Why does the inside of a tooth need treating?
Deep decay, a crack or a knock can reach the living part at the centre of the tooth. The signs vary, and the tooth does not always hurt. The examination is there to understand the cause and check whether the tooth can still be kept.
The aim of the treatment is to keep your tooth whenever that remains possible. If it is too weakened, the dentist explains the other options.
How does a root canal treatment go?
The dentist opens an access to the inside of the tooth, removes the affected part, cleans the canals and seals them. Depending on the tooth and the difficulty of the treatment, one or several appointments may be needed. If a highly specialised treatment is preferable, the dentist explains this and refers you to a colleague.
Why does the tooth need restoring afterwards?
A treated tooth may have lost a significant part of its structure. A filling, a rebuild or a crown may be proposed to protect it, depending on the tooth and what remains of it. This step is part of the plan explained before the end of the treatment.
Is a tooth hurting?
An examination looks for the cause and checks whether the tooth can be kept.

- Estimate and funding

- If the treatment follows an accident, it is reported to your accident insurance (LAA/UVG) or your health insurer. Mention it when booking, the team explains the declaration.
