What can teeth whitening change?
Whitening aims to lighten the shade of natural teeth. It does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings. The result depends on the starting shade and the cause of the staining.
Sensitivity can occur. The protocol and precautions are therefore chosen after checking the teeth and gums.
What are veneers for?
A veneer covers the visible face of a tooth. It can change a shape, a shade or an irregularity. Before proposing it, the dentist checks what will have to be changed on the tooth and the way the teeth meet.
A solution that touches the tooth less can sometimes meet your request. The dentist compares the possibilities with you before proposing a treatment.
How to choose between the solutions?
The choice starts from the change you are looking for and from what is possible without compromising the health of the teeth. Whitening mainly concerns colour, whereas veneers can also change shape. Hygiene care or the restoration of a tooth may need to be done before the cosmetic treatment.
Would you like to talk about your smile?
