Why start with an assessment?
A difference in shade can come from surface staining, the natural shade, a restoration or a single tooth. The assessment identifies what can respond to whitening and what needs another approach.
Cavities, gum problems and sensitivity are taken into account before treatment. A hygiene appointment may be advised if deposits mask the shade.
What result can be expected?
The response varies with the initial shade, the nature of the staining and the teeth. The dentist explains the change the treatment can reasonably aim for, without promising the same shade for everyone.
Crowns, veneers and composite restorations do not lighten like natural teeth. Their presence can influence the order of treatments.
How is sensitivity taken into account?
Temporary sensitivity can appear during or after whitening. The protocol, the duration and the instructions are adapted to the situation and to what you feel.
If a tooth is already sensitive before treatment, its cause has to be looked for. Whitening does not replace the treatment of a painful tooth.
Considering whitening?
The assessment checks the teeth and explains the possible result.

The practice plans short videos to explain the main treatments. This one will be added once it has been filmed. [VIDEO TO BE CONFIRMED]
